Quote of the day

Mike Tyson (around the 1:15 mark):
It must've been a prostitute I'd had sex with because I had contracted gonorrhea. Either a prostitute or else a very filthy young lady, I can't even remember. I was burning like a Good Humor in July.

Just to be clear, even though this probably doesn't need to be pointed out, the guy doesn't know if he had sex with a prostitute, but if he didn't, then the young lady who gave him gonorrhea was very filthy.

I've read this post three times today, and laughed out loud every time.

By the way, since I've discussed the logical positivist A.J. Ayer on Athens and Jersualem recently and now FLG brings up Mike Tyson, there's actually a great story involving both.

In Ben Rogers's biography of A.J. Ayer, he tells of how Ayer, at the age of 77, was attending a party in New York held by a fashion designer when a woman ran out screaming that one of her friends was being assaulted. It turns out the friend was Naomi Campbell (then unknown) and she was fending off unwanted advances from Mike Tyson. Ayer demanded that Tyson stop and Tyson responded, "Do you know who I am? I'm the fucking heavyweight champion of the world." Ayer said, "And I am the former Wykeham professor of logic. We are both pre-eminent men in our field. I suggest we talk about this like reasonable men." So they did and Naomi Campbell made a hasty departure.

That must be what Tyson was referring to earlier in that video, or maybe in the previous one.
