Frameworks

One thing FLG learned very quickly in the School of Foreign Service was how to learn a framework, apply it, and then determine when the framework may be problematic. His fellow undergraduates were pretty sharp and so the first to steps went fast, and we were usually onto the third after a few minutes. This inevitably, based upon how any intellectual creation including frameworks is constructed, led to a discussion of whether or when or where the assumptions do or do not hold.

So far, FLG thinks his fellow MBA students are, on average, posses less raw intellectual ability than the average GU undergrad. They make much of this up with superior life and work experience, but when it comes to learning and systematically applying a framework, they're way slower. There are a couple of consultants who crank through them, but on average it's not so impressive.

Much of the class discussion ignores the framework and is simply unsubstantiated opinion, kinda like what FLG'd expect from a freshman. The better comments are applicable in some way to the framework, but have jumped ahead to a subsequent part of the analysis. Hopefully it will get better because frankly FLG doesn't care about people's opinions on some topic tangential to the class.
