Correspondence

Here's the thing, though, about tyranny being right around the corner: the terrible part about bills like this is that they're usually impossible to repeal (though there may be some hope here in that they tax for 4 years before starting it for real). So I understand why Mark Steyn and others believe this to be the point of no return. I'm inclined to agree with them that if we let this sort of thing stand, we're pretty doomed.

On the bright side, the Obama spending may force an earlier recognition that America is actually bankrupt--and after one or two election drubbings, maybe enough Dems and Republicans will get together to craft something fiscally responsible to deal with the entitlement overhang.
