Anonymous said...: Well, maybe. At least, I was very interested to see the lead pipes (and faucets!) in Pompeii, when I was there.

It was generally the rich, though, who had access to the leaded wine casks, pipes, etc., and it seems unlikely they were numerous enough that their lead poisoning would bring the whole thing down. dave.s.; January 4, 2010 6:43 AM
