The University of the West of England is to stop courses in French, Spanish and Chinese this year because they received only 39 applicants.
...
A spokeswoman for the Department of Business, Innovation and Skills said it recognised the value of learning a language for personal development and for people's future careers.
The University of the West of England? I'm surprised that even 39 people applied. Applicants risk carpal tunnel syndrome from simply writing the name once.
The Department of Business, Innovation and Skills sounds like something a consultancy would produce. They probably described the name as "proactive." Wait...let's look this up...quick Google search reveals that:
The Government has today created a new Department for Business, Innovation and Skills whose key role will be to build Britain’s capabilities to compete in the global economy. The Department will be created by merging BERR and DIUS.
What's BERR, you ask? Apparently, it's the Department for Business, Enterprise & Regulatory Reform.
What's DIUR, you ask? Apparently, it's the Department of Innovation, Universities and Skills.
On second thought, perhaps The Department of Business, Innovation and Skills isn't so bad. Makes me wonder though. Who does one call when there's a problem with the toilet? The Department of Shit, Piss, and Sewers?
