A Bit More On The Republic

Since not everybody has read Emile either, I give you Jean-Jacques Rousseau:
Read Plato's Republic. Those who merely judge books by their titles take this for a treatise on politics, but it is the finest treatise on education ever written.

FLG'd like to point out that the French often use the word formation when describing education, though Rousseau uses the word éducation in this case; nevertheless, when taken together this implies that education is largely about the formation of the soul.

Plus, one of the first things Rousseau mentions is this:
Early on, form an enclosure around your child's soul.

Therefore, FLG'd argue that when JJR writes "the best treatise on education ever written" he really means the best treatise on how to order the soul ever written.
