What the fuck is wrong with Great Britain?

Telegraph:
Parents have criticised a school for giving pupils a script for a "Chav" nativity play saying it does not help children to learn to speak properly.

Teenagers at Oakwood School in Bexley, Kent, were told to read through the script, that also referred to Jesus turning water into Stella lager.

Another part of the short play talked about the police killing "bay-bees", while Mary referred to the extra benefit payments she would receive for having Jesus.

Mother Michelle Taylor, 35, branded the play "disgraceful" after being shown the text.

She said: "I couldn't believe what I was seeing. You try to encourage your children to speak properly and then they get given this sort of thing at school. I know some young people do speak like this sometimes but the school should not be condoning it in any way."

Another great excuse to post this:

Adam Fox's Oral and Literate Culture in England 1500-1700 includes an excerpt from Defoe's tour of England. Somewhere in darkest Somerset, I think, he runs across a Sunday school where the peasant boy, reading his King James, translates it as he speaks into a rather poetical dialect version. Only the vaguest relation to your post, of course, but a fascinating moment.
