FLG hates what he calls Stop-When-You-Get-To-It logic.
It is a fault finding game where one stops when one gets to blame who or what one always blames for everything anyway.
Here are some popular brands to Stop-When-You-Get-To-It logic, but there are loads of others:
The hate American foreign policy Left logic:
It's terrible that so many died in the 9/11 attacks.
The terrorists can't be responsible because I want to blame America.
The terrorists claim to hate our foreign policy and their own governments.
Therefore, American foreign policy is entirely to blame for the terrorist anger about both the United States and their own governments.
Stop.
The blame government for everything wrong with the economy Right:
The stock market crashed and we have a huge credit crunch.
I can't blame private enterprise because I always say how great the private sector is.
Fannie and Freddie were public companies.
The CRA was a government policy.
Government promoted home ownership.
Therefore, government is entirely to blame for the credit crunch and stock market crash.
Stop.
There is always some truth to the claims, but it is never the whole truth. And one could keep continuing back along the blame chain to another party, which would also be reasonable, but each successive round of going back generally becomes less plausible. So, the strongest claims are that the terrorists themselves are to blame for their attacks and banks for the credit crunch. Oh, sure, there's plenty of blame to go around as you back through the logic, but be sure you aren't stopping at what you always blame.

This is definitely going into my list of logical "traps."
