Robot Overlords Continued

Telegraph:
Sales of professional and personal service robots worldwide were estimated to have reached about 5.5 million this year, and are expected to more than double to 11.5 million by 2011, although there is little or no control over how the machines are used.

Professor Noel Sharkey, based at the University of Sheffield, believes that the increase in robots in potentially sensitive situations need guidelines so there is a limit to the amount of contact with machines. If not, they could lead to a lack of human contact for their owners.

Professor Sharkey also warned about robots being used in war, calling for ethical guidelines.

We already have guidelines. Jeez. Has Professor Sharkey been in a cave on Mars with his fingers in his ears saying La-La-La-La-I-Can't-Hear-You?
