On Cloning

An article in the Telegraph sparked a thought.

Telegraph:
French scientists are planning to clone luxury "black diamond" Périgord truffles, which can traditionally fetch up to £860 a kilo.

If we put the majority of the anti-genetically modified food on the Left and the pro-stem cell movement on the Left as well, then the Left is just fucked up.

Acting on a plant contains little to no moral content. However, acting on a human or potential human has a whole range of moral issues surrounding it. So, if a person is against GM food, but pro-stem cell research they are in effect saying that a plant is more important than a human being. That's not quite fair. By their logic, they are saying that the environment is more important than humanity. I certainly agree that humanity has a responsibility to be a good steward of the Earth, but I arrive at this conclusion from the position that current generations of human beings have a responsibility to future generations of human beings. The Earth itself is amoral. Too often environmentalist are confused. They believe the environment is GOOD and that humans are BAD. That is some seriously warped logic.
