Correspondence

Why don't you like Dr. Deneen? I didn't know until today that you had an entire tag devoted to him.

To the contrary, I like Prof. Deneen a great deal. Every time we've met he has been extremely gracious. Furthermore, The Tocqueville Forum on the Roots of American Democracy looks like it could be a very special institution, not just at Georgetown, but as part of academia and society writ large, much like the James Madison Program in American Ideals and Institutions at Princeton. It doesn't yet have the same deep pockets as the Madison Program, so if any of you have some extra money in need of a good cause...

On a personal, selfish, what-has-he-done-for-me? level, I owe my copies of Plato Complete Works, Democracy in America, and The American Republic: Primary Sources to his and the forum's generosity.

Believe me, I agree with Dr. Deneen on far more things than disagree.
