Correspondence

Thank you for the tips on identity theft. What do you do about public computers? Computers at hotels and airports?

I try not to use them at all costs. However, I realize that sometimes there is no way to avoid it. I've had to check my bank balance from a hotel computer, which was like that scene in Marathon Man for me.

If you have to use a public computer, try not to type in any passwords. If you have to type in passwords change them as soon as you get back to a trusted computer. Hopefully, if there was a keyboard logger installed the thief won't try your account before you change it. If they reroute the traffic as you logon, then you might be screwed immediately, but that is a smaller risk in my opinion.
