A Roundup

Yushchenko has dissolved parliament.

Gordon Brown is asking Europe to guarantee interbank loans. (French)

The French want a Bretton Woods-esque agreement. (French) FLG is against it, mostly because he is against almost any economic plan the French are for.

FLG is wallowing in schadenfreude at Russia's certain future weakness from oil price declines and general financial messiness. It's stupid to make strategic plans based upon $250 oil.

FLG wallows in further schadenfreude because it appears Dominique de Villepin will be charged in a case of being an asshole. If you remember correctly, he was the French foreign minister who dashed around the globe and the UN trying to stop the US invasion of Iraq. He also got Maureen Dowd wet.
